Corinaldo – The Sanctuary of Saint Maria Goretti

The Diocesan Sanctuary of Saint Maria Goretti is located on the summit of the historic centre and is easily identifiable in virtue of the Church of Sant’Agostino bell tower which soars above Corinaldo’s roof tops. The remains of the Saint’s mother, Assunta, who died in Corinaldo in 1954, are located to the left of the entrance, whereas to the right we have those of Alessandro Serenelli. Corinaldo – Church of the Incancellata

Constructed around a statuette, originally as a small church. The sheer number of worshippers and pilgrims which flocked to adore the sacred and miraculous image convinced the Gonfalon fraternity to erect a caretaker’s residence and a shelter for pilgrims, later transformed into a church. Once a small stream flowed in front of it, channelled into a well inside the church, the site of miraculous healing episodes. Prelates, cardinals, princes and the humblest of men would all flock to venerate this sacred image, drink and wash in these prodigious waters. Corinaldo – Scorticatore tower

An impressive pentagonal tower, approximately 18 metres in height, built in the 15th century to defend the Cassero. Despite a lack of documented evidence, the project is attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini, a Sienese architect who designed many fortification structures within the Duchy of Urbino. It was partially restructured in the 16th and 20th centuries and today it contains as memorial dedicated to victims of the wars. Corinaldo – The Costume Hall

Located in the rooms next to the Town Hall. A small museum brimming with Medieval colours and perfumes. Ducal costumes are conserved here, faithfully recreated to dress the Duke and Duchess of Urbino on occasion of the historic re-enactment of the Dispute of the Polenta Well, held in Corinaldo on the third weekend of July for over thirty years now. Corinaldo – C.Ridolfi Art Gallery

The collection is described as sacred as it contains numerous important works recovered from churches demolished during the 19th century. Here you’ll see a rich collection of paintings on display, as well as eighteen splendid carved and painted wooden reliquary busts, highly refined works by Sicilian carvers from the early 17th century. Jesi – The Ripa Bianca Nature Reserve

Until the mid 1980s, this was the home to Jesi’s landfill site along with a neighbouring gravel quarry, relentlessly animated by diggers and trucks at work. Human activity subsided during the early 1990s and the landfill site was reclaimed. A colony of night herons spontaneously settled, initially along the river banks, and then on the shores of the quarry lake, after the quarry was closed. Sergio Romagnoli was the first to notice these new inhabitants. The Jesi Diocesan Museum was founded in 1966, with the aim of collecting, conserving and promoting religious art testimonials and artefacts from the local territory.
